Tracy Reese Experience

It has been SOOOO hard not to brag about this, but I WORKED BACKSTAGE AT A NEW YORK CITY FASHION SHOW!!! And yes, it was freaking AMAZING! I volunteered as a dresser for the Tracy Reese show, if you are not familiar with her, please check out her collection. The whole thing was was so amazing the craft of each piece was beautiful and exceptionally well mad, she really is into details, plus having the garments right there and being able to see them up close and personal, OMG I can't even begin to express the feeling!

So what did I do? I helped Maria dress her model, and then I had to scrape all of the models shoes right before they went on the runway, that was actually a lot of fun, and the girls really thanked me... because otherwise any girl  could've fallen, and believe me nobody wants to be the next Christian Siriano girl

Anyway, here are some pictures taken by me, and of course, a video with the highlights of the show... ENJOY!!

I look like a midget beside her...not to mention anything else.

MAC AND MILK

On Friday, us Parsons students were invited to a discussion panel to the Milk Studios called "What can we be doing?"with fashion big shots:

    • Andrew Rosen CEO and president of Theory, and an investor of different brands like Rag & Bone and Alice + Olivia (and rumored to have Proenza Schouler on his radar).
    • Tommy Hilfiger
    • Jeff Rudes, owner and CEO of J Brand
    • Rogan Gregory,  owner and designer of american brand EDUN, which is made entirely of organic, eco-friendly fabrics.
    • Stephanie Rosenbloom, reporter for the Style section of the New York Times.
This panel although it was meant to be for us students, ended up being a real debate between them about themes such as the use of american factories, develop more technically advanced fabrics, create a better link between Wall Street and the fashion industry to help small fashion companies, etc. It was really interesting to see all of these people talking about the theme they are most passionate about, the fashion industry, and how they thought it could be helped. For this I have to say, I was really impressed by Andrew Rosen, this man is amazing, he is way ahead of the game, well, no wonder people look up to him and have even referred to him as "The fashion godfather".

What was more impressive was how most of them were really open to talk to us, and even said they were more than willing to mentor newcomers, Jeff Rudes even joked saying he is "A very expensive free consultant". Of course these people are top in the industry and to have them so close, at least for me was a fascinating and really motivating experience.

A month away...

SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY!!! It's been almost a month without a single post... I know, I am officially the WORST blogger ever... again, can't even begin to express how sorry I am, but truth be told...It's been extremely hard finding time... with homework, and getting to know the city and the people that come with it has been quite an experience. I have to say though, one of the best experiences the city and the people have really made me feel welcome, so thank you guys!! (you know who you are...)

So anyway, Fashion week came and went as fast as you can say WHAT'S UP WITH YOUR BLOG CAMMIE! So ok, here are some of the Up and Downs from fashion week as well as some of my own experiences...

First things first... fashion week:

Lincoln Center before going in...

So the first day was Thursday February 10th, and even though I didn't get to go to any shows... at least I had to go to the tents and feel the vibe... walking around people from the industry, eavesdropping conversations...I know that's like the worst thing EVEEER, but, who cares, drinking the Starbucks cocktails, checking out the Tresemme and Maybelline booths, all in all it was a lot of fun, just being on the lobby (I know, how pathetic do I sound!), but it really was a lot of fun, plus i got to be back...but that was a whole different experience...
