MAC AND MILK

On Friday, us Parsons students were invited to a discussion panel to the Milk Studios called "What can we be doing?"with fashion big shots:

    • Andrew Rosen CEO and president of Theory, and an investor of different brands like Rag & Bone and Alice + Olivia (and rumored to have Proenza Schouler on his radar).
    • Tommy Hilfiger
    • Jeff Rudes, owner and CEO of J Brand
    • Rogan Gregory,  owner and designer of american brand EDUN, which is made entirely of organic, eco-friendly fabrics.
    • Stephanie Rosenbloom, reporter for the Style section of the New York Times.
This panel although it was meant to be for us students, ended up being a real debate between them about themes such as the use of american factories, develop more technically advanced fabrics, create a better link between Wall Street and the fashion industry to help small fashion companies, etc. It was really interesting to see all of these people talking about the theme they are most passionate about, the fashion industry, and how they thought it could be helped. For this I have to say, I was really impressed by Andrew Rosen, this man is amazing, he is way ahead of the game, well, no wonder people look up to him and have even referred to him as "The fashion godfather".

What was more impressive was how most of them were really open to talk to us, and even said they were more than willing to mentor newcomers, Jeff Rudes even joked saying he is "A very expensive free consultant". Of course these people are top in the industry and to have them so close, at least for me was a fascinating and really motivating experience.
