Polyvore Outfits

Hey little ponies!

If you've seen the last three posts, you must have noticed that they are all outfits from Polyvore.com

This is homework for my Fashion Industry Marketing intro class, where I have to make at least 3 different outfits, including Leather Leggings. Why leather leggings? Well earlier on the semester I had another project, where I had to choose a product and show where it was on it's marketing life cycle. I chose leather leggings, and now for this project I had to use that product and style it, which turned out to be pretty easy...don't you think?

So anyway that was my homework. And for the Polyvore assignment I only had to use leggings from the introduction part of the cycle, meaning High-end leggings... in other words...really expensive ones!

Meet Haider Ackermann

Hello Ponies! 2 Posts ago, I told you that rumor had it that Riccardo Tisci would be the next head designer for Dior...however I am INCREDIBLY happy to say, new rumors are pointing towards Haider Ackermann's direction!!! However I know some of you don't now who he is, so here is a small meet the designer!

Haider Ackermann was born in Colombia in 1971, however he was adopted by a French family.
He studied at the Antwerp Fashion Academy of Fine Arts (same school as Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester and others.) He worked as an intern for John Galliano at his Paris offices,  and afterwards became the assistant of Wim Neels, his former teacher at Antwerp.

He launched his first collection in 2001, and he's been on the radar ever since...however he really was put on the spot when Karl Langerfeld said he would choose Ackermann as his successor.
Langereld:
"I have a contract for life so it all depends on who I would like to hand it to. At the moment I'd say Haider Ackermann."

Ackermann Replied:
"What can one possibly say to such a phrase?! Such a compliment! Honored I feel, how can one not be? In all honesty tremendously, immensely touched, especially coming from Monsieur Langerfeld."

As you can see he has made a pretty big name for himself, however, take a look at the collections for 2011 and let me know what you think? He is a master of leather and draping, and I would definitely describe his work as Edgy, Avant-Garde , in one word...amazing!
